Why our tree service areas stay within two counties
Good tree care starts with knowing the trees. The mature pin oaks, sugar and red maples, ash and white pines that shade towns like Montclair, Morristown, Maplewood and Madison each fail in their own way, and northern New Jersey’s clay soils, steep lots and tight suburban setbacks demand careful rigging. Working the same two counties for four decades has taught us how to read them.
We also know the local rules: many towns in both counties require permits or arborist sign-off before a large tree comes down, and the emerald ash borer has left dead ash trees standing over homes across the region. Owner Dave Lombardi is an ISA Certified Arborist, and we follow the standards of the International Society of Arboriculture, pull the permits your town needs, and answer our emergency line 24/7 when storms strike.

Demand across our tree service areas tends to spike in two seasons: late winter and early spring, when dormant pruning and storm cleanup peak, and mid-to-late summer, when thunderstorms and saturated ground bring down weakened limbs and whole trees. Because our crews are local and we own our trucks, chippers and cranes, we can plan around both seasons. If a tree comes down overnight, our emergency line is staffed 24/7.
What every town we serve can expect
There are plenty of trucks with chainsaws chasing storm work each spring. Choosing the right crew comes down to a few things you cannot fake in a single season:
- Four decades in one region. Since 1984, T&D Tree Service has worked almost exclusively in Essex and Morris County — we know the trees, the towns and the permit offices.
- An ISA Certified Arborist. Owner Dave Lombardi’s recommendations are grounded in tree science, so your trees are cared for, not just cut.
- Licensed & fully insured. Liability and workers’ compensation coverage protect your property and our crew on every job.
- Owner-run estimates. Dave Lombardi personally quotes most work — honest pricing, no pressure, no surprises.
- Meticulous cleanup. Every branch, chip and log cleared; your yard left spotless.
It is why our reviews read the same year after year, from Nutley to Chester, and why so much of our work comes from referrals. T&D was wonderful — always on time, always when promised. David showed a vast knowledge of local trees, his team used a crane and wore safety equipment, and they cleaned up completely.
